Adventures in Glorious New Zealand

New Zealand is a postcard-perfect country. Adventures on the Stray Bus on South Island, New Zealand.

New Zealand

And from way back when… my travels in New Zealand were amazing. I will write more later about my five weeks of sky-diving and bungy-jumping and helicopter riding adventures, and all the fantastic places and people I enjoyed. But for now, here’s one of the “Stray Bus Gang” (I’ll give you a hint… I’m the ONLY one wearing sunglasses, and the ONLY one with white hair. Please delete this photo once you have seen it!) The second photo is one with the die-hard hikers on top of Mount Roy, near Wanaka on the South Island. Most of us had blisters the next day (not me, of course,) so all we did was eat home-made Swedish pancakes and ice cream and watch movies. It took us three hours of solid climbing, but Cuong Vu (AKA “King Kwong,” the funniest Korean-German ever created) was the first person to reach the top, despite the fact that he is a big smoker. Rumor has it that one of his parents was a billy goat, and the other was a sherpa. At least that’s what Massimo told me. One of the girls said that I sound just like Kevin Costner… so I was called Kevin Costner for most of the trip. But again, more on that later!

Steering the "cruise boat" on the 3-day journey between Flores and Lombok in Indonesia, including a visit with the Komodo Dragons on Rinca Island. I suggested they should change the name of the boat to "The Lexxon Valdez", but for some reason, they resisted.
